Maissa in New York City

Maissa really wanted to see New York City during her stay in the United States. So, on Easter weekend, we loaded up the car and headed north. Typically, we would drive to D.C. and take the MegaBus out of Union Station as I have no desire to every drive in the City.  This visit, we drove to New Brunswick, NJ to visit Lynn’s family, left the car at a New Jersey Transit Authority station in Metropark and took the train into the City. I think this is our new way to get there.

We crammed a lot into the weekend. We visited the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, The Empire State Building (first for Lynn and I as well), Rockefeller Center, Central Park and Time Square. We traveled by foot and taxi. You can’t go to NYC and not sample the food. We ate cheesecake at Junior’s, corned beef sandwiches at a deli, pizza from a wood burning oven and had dinner in an Irish pub. On Sunday, we enjoyed the Easter Parade on 5th Avenue. If you have never been there for the Easter Parade, you have to put this on your calendar. It’s a hoot!

On Saturday afternoon, the Fujifilm X team was holding a Natural Portraits Instameet in Central Park with Kara Mercer and Ruddy Roye. Sign me up! Needless to say, we took a lot of pictures. I had a feeling Maissa would enjoy this. She jumped right in to model for everyone.

Gorgeous light in a tunnel. Learned a lot at this stop with the X Team.
